Teaching autistic individuals how to solve a Rubik's Cube.

Max Park

In 2017, 15-year-old Max Park won the Rubik's Cube World Championship, an extraordinary achievement for the young competitor and especially notable as Max is autistic.  His journey and triumph became a beacon of inspiration for Ethan, motivating him to embark on a mission to teach autistic children how to solve the Rubik's Cub.  Ethan believes that engaging with the puzzle can not only offer a fun and stimulating activity for autistic kids, but also potentially provide therapeutic benefits and enhance problem-solving skills.

On Mother's Day, Ethan delivers a heartfelt speech titled, "Small Cube, Big Love," during an event specifically organized for autistic children. In his speech, Ethan shares the inspiring story of Max Park, a young autistic individual who overcame challenges to win the Rubik's Cube World Championship. Ethan's narrative highlights how the Rubik's Cube not only served as a tool for Max to enhance his problem-solving skills, but also as a medium to express his passion and perseverance. Shared to motivate and encourage both the children and their families, the story illustrates the profound impact that dedication and love for a hobby can have on personal development and overcoming obstacles.

Into Golden Wings Ethan conducts an interview with Junru Zhang, founder of the Golden Wings Art Rehabilitation Center for Disabled Children. Together they devise a plan to regularly teach Rubik's Cube to autistic children. This initiative, aptly named the "Small Cube Big World" project, embodies the belief that engaging autistic children with the Rubik's Cube can significantly benefit their cognitive and motor skills, fostering a sense of accomplishment and self-confidence through the mastery of the cube.

On International Children's Day, Ethan teaches Rubik's Cube lessons at Golden Wings.

In honor of National Disability Day, Ethan teaches Rubik's Cube lessons at the Golden Wings Foundation.

2 April 2022

On World Autism Day, the club organizes a charity art sale for children of the Golden Wings Foundation, selling 18 paintings and raising 54,000 yuan.

May 2023

Ethan joins non-profit organization Project Ready as a tutor, teaching autistic children Rubik's Cube skills.

Ethan himself has notable achievements in the world of Rubik's Cube, having won the 2019 Championship of the WCA (World Cube Association) Junior category in Baoji, China. This accomplishment underlines Ethan's skill and dedication to the Rubik's Cube, further fueling his passion for sharing this interest with others and making a positive impact on the autistic community through the power and joy of solving the cube.

August 2019

A Trip to Hope Schools Ethan embarks on a journey to four Hope Primary Schools situated in the rural and pastoral regions of Xiahe County, within the Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture in Southern Gansu Province, China. There, he delivers a speech titled "Can Rubik's Cube Change Lives?" to hundreds of children, to demonstrate how dedication to a hobby or interest can lead to remarkable achievements and personal growth. Through his speech, Ethan utilizes the inspiring story of Max Park, a young autistic individual who became a world champion in solving the Rubik's Cube, to encourage the students to explore and develop their unique talents.

Care for Autistic Children charity sale. Paintings by autistic children raise 24,150 yuan for Golden Wings Foundation.

22 March 2021

After a long period, during which Golden Wings was unable to carry out teaching activities due to the COVID-19 epidemic, Ethan visits and teaches Rubik's Cube to many autistic children.

11 October 2021

Small Cube Big World student club is founded, initially with six members. The first club activity is a visit to Golden Wings foundation.

April 2022

The Small Cube Big World club organizes an exhibition of paintings by autistic children at WAB School, showcasing their artwork across the upper, middle, and lower schools. Among these paintings are two pieces that were displayed during the Olympics closing ceremony.

February 2024
